GRAND MASTER'S MESSAGE

           Welcome to the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Idaho Web Site.

In this brief Message from The Grand Master of Idaho, David C Triplett, he hopes to shed a little light on our ancient and honorable institution.

The Masonic Fraternity is the oldest fraternity in the world. It developed out of the Ancient Craft Guilds of Stone Masons who created works of architecture that were the admiration of every age. We are no longer Operative Masons, but Speculative Masons; using the symbolism and allegories to teach moral lessons.  An example is the use of symbolic tools of the ancient masters to make better citizens in our communities.  Three of the builder’s tools were the Plumb, the Square and the Level. Teaching us to be upright citizens by the “Plumb”, moral by the “Square” and meet all men on the “Level” of equality. 

The Idaho Masonic Family includes Freemasons as well as organizations for their ladies, couples, and youth.  The primary tenets of our Fraternity are Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

By Brotherly love, we are taught to regard that all mankind are one family created by one Almighty Creator and we are to aid, support and protect each other.

Relief, in this sense, is Charity:  To relieve the distress is the duty of all, but especially Masons, who are linked together by an indissoluble chain of sincere affection. One great example is the Shrine of North America, of which every member is a Mason; The Shrine spends over 2 million dollars a day caring for the special children in the Shrine Hospitals at no charge to the family.  In Idaho we have many community programs sponsored by our Masonic Lodges. They offer scholarships to youth, the advancement of education in the elementary schools by the “Bikes for Books” program and the child ID program (CHIP) are just a few examples of our state wide Masonic services.

TRUTH: To be good and true are the first lessons we are taught as Masons.  I have never met a man that did not benefit from the lessons gained in taking the three degrees of our Symbolic Lodges.  There is always more light and learning to be experienced in the other Masonic Bodies such as The York Rite, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, Amaranth and the Shrine. They each have special charities that also help our Idaho communities.

Freemasonry is always looking for men who wish to become better men:  who are interested in self improvement and in giving back to their community. We do not ask for membership. Each new prospect must ask to join of his own freewill and accord.
